Xiaomi's premium range of robot vacuum cleaners with 3D + LDS obstacle detection technology, 4000 Pa suction and a large battery capable of cleaning up to 240 ㎡.After several weeks using the latest, and most advanced, Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner, I will tell you my opinion of this Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 2 Ultra in this review.I have been using it together with the charging base that works as a self-emptying station and I can tell you that the experience has been quite good.Robot vacuum cleaners have ceased to be a technological whim to become another everyday device in our homes.Like smart speakers and many other IoT devices, at first... well yes, they could be whims, but for many they have become essential in our day to day life.A few months ago I analyzed the most advanced Roborock robot, the S7 MaxV Ultra that has a powerful self-emptying and cleaning base and, right after it, Xiaomi's response came home.It is a robot vacuum cleaner that has similar capabilities, but costs almost 1,000 euros less at the moment. This is my analysis of the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 2 Ultra with the 'Auto-Empty Station', a tandem that you are going to love if, above all, you have pets at home and you need your robot vacuum cleaner not to be a burden, but a solution.Sections of the analysis of the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 2 Ultra:Let's start with the easiest part of this review. If something characterizes Xiaomi in all its non-mobile devices, it is that they are... recognizable. On mobile they have a little more cocoa (although they are putting a solution), but on smart or portable devices, they have quite recognizable lines. Here we have a black model for this Ultra model (the Pro comes in a white and orange that I like better) that has a shiny plastic surface that catches both fingerprints and dust very easily. It's what I liked least about this robot, I'll tell you in advance, because I believe that this type of device should be created to be "dirty" and, therefore, a 'glossy' finish should not be present. But well, as I say, it is recognizable both by the 'Mi' logo and by the minimalism that prevails throughout the design, with a top cover to remove the dust compartment, only two buttons (on/off and back home) and the central area in which the rotary sensor is located to recognize spaces. It is served by sensors, since it is surrounded by them and has both sensors at the base so as not to fall down the stairs, side sensors so as not to crash more than necessary and a front camera with ToF technology to make navigation more precise and to recognize objects. If we turn the robot around, we have wheels with a generous diameter that allow it to overcome heights of 2 centimeters. It seems little, but if you have laminated flooring in a room, with the classic rim on the door, you will have no problem getting through. It also has no major problem when it comes to getting on carpets. It has a side brush and something that I did not like is the roller.Yes, it does its job perfectly when it comes to collecting dust and dirt, but since you have animals, you will have to clean this roller every two weeks so that it does not have many tangled hairs. The best solution in this type of vacuum cleaner is an all-rubber roller and I understand that in a low range they have bristles, but in a high range, as this model is intended to be, it should be 100% rubber. So, I recommend you look in stores for a compatible brush that is made of that material. And, also in the base, but in the rear area, you can install the mop.I had it the first week, but after seeing the results, I removed it.Later I will tell you about this topic. Now we go to the station. When you buy the Mop 2 Ultra, you buy only the robot and, of course, it comes with its charging base.It is a simple base that takes up little space and that you can put in any corner. However, if you opt for this model, I recommend buying the self-emptying station. The robot is about 386 euros on Amazon right now and the station another 215 euros and, believe me, it's worth buying the pack. The design is very minimalistic and totally removed from the huge station of the Robotock S7 MaxV Ultra. It simply has a central button at the top and a 4-liter bag. This bag is disposable and sold separately. Its installation is very simple and, basically, what you get with this base is that, when the robot finishes cleaning, it returns to charge itself and empty its tank.As I told you in the analysis of the Roborock model, it is something that will help you a lot in your day to day life. And the way we have to see the status of the device, as well as to control every detail, is with the app.It is about Xiaomi Home, an application that will sound familiar to you if you have another device of the brand and that, in the end, is one of the main reasons for a Xiaomi device over other brands. At least in my opinion. It is an application that is translated, that is stable, that is fast and that has a careful design. There I have the rice cooker, the surveillance camera, the air fryer, the toothbrush and… well, any branded IoT device. The operation is very simple, you will be able to monitor all the sections of the robot and, in addition, update it via OTA.In my case, the configuration was very easy and I recommend that, as soon as you install it, do not touch anything and send the robot for a walk around the house. This is how it will map the rooms and then, when it is finished, you can take care of naming those rooms in the app, correct small errors, separate rooms and, yes, configure the cleaning schedule, areas with invisible walls or manage the power of aspirate. With the app you can also easily monitor the status of the components to see if you have to ask for a replacement and, as I say, everything is done in a very simple way and without connection problems, at least in my case.Anyway, let's get to the meat of the Xiaomi Vacuum Mop 2 Ultra review: how does it suck? How about scrubbing? The first very well. The second... not so much.In general, the feeling of cleanliness is very positive thanks both to the suction power of 4,000 Pa and, above all, to the good navigation.Having such a complete system of sensors allows the robot to be more precise when navigating, which translates into fewer passes per path already covered and, in addition, greater optimization of the battery. Here the Xiaomi Mop 2 Ultra I think meets the mark.At home I don't have many cables in sight, but in the recording room... there are some, since there are spotlights that I have to move, etc. There it has sometimes pulled the cables, but never with unpleasant consequences and I have to admit that they are finite cables. In the cable of a strip that is visible, and that is thicker, it did not get tangled once. And the same goes for items such as table legs, chairs, slippers in the bathroom or animal toys.He dodges them super well and on the tables, furniture and others you don't hear blows. That is to say, although it has a kind of bumper, it does not move "to the touch", but it knows how to calculate its dimensions and the distance to the object quite well, so it is rare that it collides. As for navigation, I already say that the experience has been very good.It hasn't gotten stuck, it hasn't gotten confused wandering around, and according to the navigation map, it navigates every room optimally, exactly like the much more expensive Roborock. To collect dust, small bird feed, some feathers that remain on the ground and the daily dirt that we bring from the street, the device works 10. It is true that it leaves some fluff in the corners, since its side brush does not reach, but saves you a lot of time cleaning. With animal hair it also works, but as I say, you will have to be quite careful to clean the roller. You can go up to carpets, with the strong vacuum level (you also have eco, normal and turbo) it works very well for daily maintenance and that it self-empties is a hoot. And something that I liked is the autonomy, since it cleans about 80-85 square meters without a problem in that strong mode. Now, scrubbing is another story.A good thing is that it distributes water very efficiently, so the tank gives enough of itself. But what it does is similar to wiping the floor with a damp cloth to wipe up drops of coffee or drink that have fallen... or bath water after a shower. And, honestly, before putting the mop, opening the app and selecting the cleaning area, I prefer to take the cloth and clean it myself. As usual in almost all these devices, it wets the floor with a thin layer of water and it can be used for some stains, but that is not scrubbing. So, for scrubbing... I wouldn't take it into account, but for daily maintenance it's great. And, in the end, it does not have so much ultrasonic vibration technology or those little things that we do see in more expensive models, but for day-to-day cleaning, house maintenance and, above all, making our lives easier, it is more than enough and with good note. The official price of the robot is 499 euros and, due to how well it sucks and, above all, its good navigation, I think it is a very interesting purchase.I would add to the pack, in my case, the self-emptying station, since you forget to empty the tank for a few weeks and if you have animals, especially, I think it is essential.Xiaomi's premium range of robot vacuum cleaners with 3D + LDS obstacle detection technology, 4000 Pa suction and a large battery capable of cleaning up to 240 ㎡.And yes, I say about the animals because, I repeat, the brush is not the best for collecting hair, but in the end you have a self-emptying station and a very efficient robot for much less money than similar and equivalent proposals from other manufacturers. If you buy it for animals, I encourage you to look for a replacement rubber roller, but if you don't mind doing maintenance on this part every two weeks or so, I think it is one of the best quality/price devices for the home that you can buy .Subscribe to our newsletter
